Cox HS Band Director Mike Lane leads the Marching Falcons to seven trophies
In addition to the numerous awards the Cox High School Marching Falcons have acquired over the years under band Director Mike Lane, they acquired more distinctions and accolades in the "Drums Along the Boulevard" competition, held recently at Princess Anne High School.
According to the Band Boosters Association, not only did the Marching Falcons place first in their division and best overall in a field of 19 bands in groups A and AA, but they also won caption awards for best music, best effect, best visual, best Color Guard, best percussion, and, the Samuel Reynolds Grand Champion Cup.
They won a total of seven trophies.
A two-year Marching Falcon member, sophomore saxophone player Amy Horvath is more than excited with the group's success and is looking forward to their upcoming events and competitions.
"Every weekend, we have a different competition and the competitions aren't connected, so each one gives us a chance to be better," said Horvath, adding that the Falcons recently participated in the Neptune Festival at the Oceanfront and in a competition held at Hickory High School in Chesapeake.
