Cox High School field hockey players honored
Two Cox High School student-athletes, senior field hockey players Zoe Campisi
and Kylie Levine, were recently named as Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Student
Athletes of the Year., as part of the hall’s Student Athlete Achievement Awards.
The awards ceremony was held at S.B. Ballard Stadium at Old Dominion University.

Dominion Energy will pay for the difference in cost
between a traditional diesel bus, costing about
$105,000, and an electric bus, estimated at $350,000;
they dovetail into the division's sustainability efforts.

Anne Post 113's 2020 middle school essay contest.
The topic: "I like living in America, because . . ."
Students in the 5th grade at Indian Lakes Elementary
School have been very concerned about the out-of-control
wild fires, that have destroyed 2,000 houses and 480 million
animals, in Australia, and have created new “bat wraps”
and bedding to send there to help care for the injured
and surviving wildlife. Plant life, is now growing back.
Virginia Beach School Board members just elected
Carolyn T. Rye, on the left, as their new chairwoman.
The William & Mary graduate was first elected
to the board in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018.
Kimberly Melnyk, on the right, was just re-elected
as the vice chair; she also joined the board in 2014.
Fresh from being crowned Miss America 2020,
Camilla Schrier recently returned to the
Richmond area to lead a science experiment
for girls at Mad Science in Glen Allen. Schrier,
who was born in Pennsylvania and was also
crowned Miss Virginia, is in the process of
obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from
Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond.
She presented a chemistry demonstration at
the Miss America competition, in December,
