Victim robbed in bank parking lot; man on a motorcycle dies in crash
An unidentified person was robbed at gunpoint today around 3 p.m., in the TowneBank parking lot at 984 First Colonial Road. No one was injured.
Virginia Beach police say that the victim was walking through the parking lot and approached by an African American male, who pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded money.
After received the money, the suspect ran to an awaiting car and fled the scene.
This crime is under investigation by members of the Virginia Beach Police Department's Robbery Squad.
A motorcyclist died this afternoon around 3 p.m., after being hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Newtown Road and Baker Road.
The motorcycle's operator was pronounced dead, at the scene.
The motorcycle was traveling southbound on Newtown Road and was approaching Baker Road, when a Ford F150, traveling northbound on Newtown Road, attempted to make a left turn onto Baker Road and turned into the path of the motorcycle, causing the crash.
The truck came to a rest, colliding with a SUV that was in the eastbound lane of Baker Road.
The accident is under investigation by the members of the Virginia Beach Police Department's Fatal Crash Team.
