The following events and activities are slated for November at the city's Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Boulevard. Registration is not needed, unless otherwise listed. A library card may be needed to participate.
Meet the Artist - Wednesday, Nov. 7, 6:30 p.m. Scott Young’s photographs are on display. Enjoy a brief talk by the artist about his work and light refreshments. The event is designed for adults.
Holiday Shopping on a Budget - Thursday, Nov. 8, 6 p.m. Enjoy the holidays without blowing your budget. Get tips and tools to prepare for holiday costs, including gift-giving, travel, food, decorations, postage and more. Learn how to lower your costs, without sacrificing any of the joy. Trail Magic Documentary Screening - Tuesday, Nov. 13, 6 p.m. See a screening of the new documentary, Trail Magic, about Emma “Grandma” Gatewood, the first woman to solo thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 1955, at the age of 67. Author Talk: “America the Grateful” - Sunday, Nov. 18, 2:30 p.m. Lisa Suhay, author of, America the Grateful: Where Thanksgiving Really Began, will read her 10th published book and talk about the Thanksgiving that was held at Virginia’s Berkley Plantation. After the book talk, there will be a small craft activity for children to do at the library or take home. Suhay will also have books available for purchase and signing. The event is designed for ages, preschool through grade five.
