A Sandbridge sunrise inspired Debbie Collett to write "Time"

January 11, 2018

Last year on a warm, spring day, I got up real early and went to Sandbridge and watched the sunrise.  It was gorgeous.  I had not done that in years.  While watching, I started thinking about the past and the future, and wrote the following poem entitled Time.

The past has drifted out to sea

Among the currents and the breeze.

Today is yet another chance

To give our hearts the room to dance.

To seek out what we hope to see

Or pass the hours being free.

Or run as fast as we can go,

Or simply walk and take it slow.

Or open up a brand new door,

Or find a place not seen before.

Or listen with an open ear

To all there is to learn and hear.

No matter what we choose to do;

No matter where it leads us to,

No map or guide will light the way,

We really only have today.
