Residents escape injury at Abingdon Village fire, under investigation

The Virginia Beach Fire Department, along with auto-aid from Chesapeake Engine 3 and Norfolk Engine 4, responded yesterday around 11:12 p.m., to a residential fire in the 6200 block of Antioch Street in Abingdon Village in Indian River.


Units were on scene in four minutes, reported heavy fire showing and had it under control within 30 minutes; the fire was declared out 12:41 a.m.


Residents were home at the time and were able to escape unharmed.


No civilians or firefighters injuries were reported.


The cause of the fire is under investigation.
