City Council will consider approving its city staff's recommendation to award a Design/Build Comprehensive Agreement for a new sports center to MEB General Contractors, Inc., of Chesapeake. It would be located on 19th Street at the Oceanfront, adjacent to the city's convention center.
The Public-Private Education Facilities Act procedures require details of the terms be posted for public viewing for 30 days prior to the Comprehensive Agreement's execution.
The documents, including a summary of terms, the construction budget, 15 percent drawings and the construction schedule, have been posted on the city's website, VBgov.com/SportsCenter, in its Related Documents section.

City Council in February approved an interim agreement with MEB, following the review of proposals submitted in response to the city's solicitation.
The new establishes a guaranteed maximum price of $57,776,725 for construction of the building and $10,364,322 for the associated surface parking.
Citizens can provide feedback on the agreement by signing up to speak to the agenda item planned for City Council's July 10 meeting.
Various indoor athletic events and activities could be staged at a new sports center.
