A special celebration is set for Friday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m., at Chesapeake City Park to recognize Cox Virginia’s 40th anniversary in the Hampton Roads region.
Cox is also is kicking off its 40 acts of kindness campaign, in which a total of $40,000 will be donated to the Hampton Roads community.
Chesapeake Mayor Rick West will present a proclamation on behalf of the city, recognizing Cox Communications’ investments in branding Hampton Roads as a "global information gateway and its commitment to supporting local communities."
In addition to the mayor, other expected special guests include, J.D. Myers, II, senior vice president and region manager, Cox Communications; Steven Wright, director, Chesapeake Economic Development Department; Bill Reid, chief operating officer, and Duncan Alonso, key accounts manager, United Way of South Hampton Roads; and Steve Kast, president and CEO, United Way of the Virginia Peninsula.
The park is located at 900 City Park Drive in Chesapeake's Greenbrier area.
The event is being held in Section C, with on-site parking available.
