Ocean Lakes ES STEM teams win awards at VB Trifecta Challenge

Ocean Lakes Elementary School students competed well and looked strong at the STEM Trifecta Challenge, held recently at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

 

Congratulations, to the STEM Makebot 3D printing team. Surf Troopers placed third among elementary schools for their display, presentation and 3D products. Their product was called, the "Kind Collar: Pinch Proof Pet Collar Clip."​

 

Ocean Lakes also sent three teams to the STEM Robotics Challenge. Congratulations to the QR Girls, who received a perfect score for their portfolio, tying for first place. They were awarded second place on a tie-breaker. They also received a Second Place trophy for the city, among elementary school teams, for their overall score.

 

Congratulations to the Calculated Cargo team for receiving the First Place trophy, among elementary schools, for their overall score.

 

Carl Peake, Information Technology Specialist at Ocean Lakes ES, was named Mentor of the Year.

 

Other winners and participants included: Lauren Aversa, Casey Weldon, Mason Arthurs, Elizabeth Taylor, Kailynn Johnson, Soct'lyn Owens, Yolanda Yon, Jensen Abraham, Carter Lewis, Mishka Sitdikova, Elijah Robinson, Leila Baena, Daniel Sadovnikov, Blake Stemple, Jayden Hahn and Ryan Mixon.
