During the holidays, when everyone is running around, shopping, cooking, planning, it is easy to become stressed. I have found when that occurs, it helps me to pay attention to small things.
A mist coming down the mountain,
A striking cardinal in a tree;
A low flame in a fireplace, and
Being where you want to be.
A few flakes floating slowly
On a gentle winter breeze;
A drifting song is playing
Giving you a sense of peace.
A warm smile for a greeting
And a silent helping hand;
A place to take a load off
And just relax again.
The sun is a bit dimmer,
But the sunset’s now ablaze
With ever-changing colors -
Cooler nights, and warmer days.
A room that’s filled with laughter;
Finding, sometimes, what you’re after -
Gaining ground a little faster;
It’s the smaller things that matter.
Our days are like an ocean tide -
Sometimes low and sometimes high,
But as they flow and pass us by
We can still hope, and can still try.
